ಅಂದು ೧೯೮೦ರ ದಶಕ. ಗೋಕಾಕ್ ಚಳುವಳಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಉಳಿವಿಗಾಗಿ ನಡೆದ ಹೋರಾಟ. ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಜನ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಕನ್ನಡಭಾಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಉಳಿವಿಗಾಗಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಆಂದೋಲನ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಗೊಂಡ ಕೆಲವು ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಮತ್ತು ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಒಂದುಗೂಡಿ ಕನ್ನಡಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಿಸುವ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರವನ್ನು ೧೯೮೯ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈಗೊಂಡರು. ಅದರ ಫಲವಾಗಿ ಉಗಮಿಸಿದ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ‘ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಕಾಸ ವಿದ್ಯಾಸಂಸ್ಥೆ’. ಇದರ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿ ನೃಪತುಂಗನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ನಮ್ಮ ಶಾಲಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಓದುತ್ತಿರುವ ಬಡ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಕಾರಿಯಾದ ಯೋಜನೆಯೇ ‘Odige Aasare Yojane’.

Some Kannada activists and professors started the school with very little capital. Later they received money, furniture, and things from the people of the society. It Received a one-crore grant from the government for the construction of the Science and Commerce college in Kannada medium. Well-suited Science laboratories and Computer laboratories were constructed by the grants of the Science and Technology Division of the government. A lot of Kannada organizations and Kannadigas are staying miles away but they have touched our hearts through their funds to construct and develop the school and college.
People’s support and love are the source of inspiration for it. Its success lies in the people and their generosity. It is a program to reach out to those that cannot afford to pay fees. It is a one-year’s school fee per student given free to the student. Till now the expenditure received by the sponsors was Rs. 4000. But due to the rise in the costs, it is now Rs.8000. It receives Rs 8000 from a single sponsor or Rs. 4000 from two sponsors. Odina Aasarege Sarige receives Rs. 1000 from the sponsors.
